Jeff Daniels has opened up about why Jim Carrey fought to make sure he was his co-star in Dumb and Dumber, rather the producers casting another comedian.

Watch what he had to say here:
This isn't the only time that Jeff has explained why he was selected to play Harry Dunne.
"I auditioned, then they brought me back and I auditioned with Jim Carrey and we did the hot tub scene," Jeff previously recalled on Inside the Actor's Studio. "First week we shot the tongue on the pole, we shot the snowball on the head, we shot a bunch of other stuff with me. And about Thursday I got caught up, 'I'm still auditioning.' I later found out that the studio had one actor on hold ready to come in."
After spending his first weekend on set Jim ensured Jeff was called back.

He added: "They had looked at the dailies from the first week. And now I'm there Monday morning, six in the morning, and Jim walks in, first time anybody even acknowledged this was going on, just patted me on the shoulder and said, 'They love what you're doing, just keep it going'. Jim fought for me. They wanted a comedian. And Jim said, 'I don't want a comedian. I want an actor... who will make me listen, who will make me react'."
The two formed the perfect on-screen comedy duo, going on to star in a sequel together in 2014.
Jim Carrey had been rocking a beard for the last few years since the sequel, he even talked about his facial hair when he made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel earlier this year.

"Everywhere I go, people talk about the beard," he pointed out. "They cant really think about anything else."
"Wherever I show up, it becomes this story. It's a bigger star than me. It has its own Twitter."

However, if you were a fan him looking all Grizzly Adams, I'm sorry to have to tell you it's gone.
He's now a man who's great with casting decisions and at looking fresh.
