After the huge success of his first film, Get Out, Jordan Peele looks ready to unleash his second directorial effort on the world.

He announced the title of the new flick on his social media on Tuesday - it's going to be called Us - and on the teaser poster the film is described as 'A new nightmare from the mind of Academy Award winner Jordan Peele'.

Sounds fun. That's basically all we know about it for certain, but there is a fair bit of speculation about the cast already.

Variety reports they have been told that Lupita Nyong'o is in line to star in the film. Elisabeth Moss from The Handmaid's Tale is also in line to appear in another major role. Nyong'o's Black Panther co-star Winston Duke could also appear in the film.

Plot details are not easy to find, but some reports have suggested that it will focus on two couples, one white and one black.

Peele will write and direct the film as well as producing it alongside his Monkeypaw Productions teammates Sean McKittrick, Ian Cooper, and Jason Blum.

The new film will be Peele's first after his big first-look deal with Universal Pictures. Last year, he signed on alongside Monkeypaw Productions after the success of Get Out.

To say his first movie was a success is somewhat of an understatement. Peele's film was not only a box-office smash - it opened at number one and went on to gross $255m worldwide - it also proved to be one of the most important films of last year politically.

All of this culminated in the film being nominated for a Best Picture Oscar. Peele was also nominated for two awards, Best Director, and Best Original Screenplay - he eventually won the latter.

Get Out was a comedy/horror film that told the story of a young black man visiting his girlfriend's parents at their countryside house. Chris (played by former Skins actor Daniel Kaluuya) notices the strange behaviour of the family's black staff and then realises that something is terrifyingly wrong.

It has a 99% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, but more importantly it allowed Peele an opportunity to pass comment on the underlying racism that he thinks is still prominent in American culture to this day.

On top of that, it was hilarious and horrifying in equal measure. We can only hope that the next film lives up to its predecessor.

Us is likely to start filming later on this year.
