Kaley Cuoco Is Heartbroken Over 'The Big Bang Theory' Ending

The 32-year-old star, who plays the show's lead female Penny, was 'in tears' over the announcement.

We know the saying: 'All good things must come to an end' but Kaley Cuoco, along with many fans, wasn't prepared for the news The Big Bang Theory would finish after season 12.

The 32-year-old actor, who plays the show's lead female, Penny, took to Instagram to share her emotional reaction on the end of the sitcom.

She commented: "This ride has been a dream come true and as life changing as it gets. No matter when it was going to end, my heart would have always been broken in two. Drowning in tears, we promise to bring you the best season yet."

She added, along with a group shot of the cast: "To the fans, our crew, families, Chuck Lorre, Warner Brothers, CBS, and everyone who has supported us for so many years, thank you. We are goin out with a bang @bigbangtheory_cbs."

The star wasn't alone in her devastation of the show ending - one person tweeted: "Can someone please sing Soft Kitty to me? #BigBangTheory."

Another tweeted: "52 Emmy nominations and 10 wins. #BigBangTheory was always on point the whole 11 years worthwhile I will miss the show."

Some people had mixed feelings and felt it was time for the show to come to an end.

One person tweeted: "Once again something dies that I thought had been dead for years."

Cuoco, along with her co-stars, Johnny Galecki (Leonard), Jim Parsons (Sheldon), Simon Helberg (Howard) and Kunal Nayyar (Rajesh), have featured on Big Bang since the show's premier in 2007.

The last episodes are set to air in May 2019 - his finale will mark the end of the longest-running multi-camera series in television history, with a record-breaking 279 episodes.

This week Warner Bros. Television, CBS and Chuck Lorre Productions released a joint statement promising to bring an 'epic' conclusion to the show.

"We are forever grateful to our fans for their support of The Big Bang Theory during the past 12 seasons.

"We, along with the cast, writers and crew, are extremely appreciative of the show's success and aim to deliver a final season, and series finale, that will bring The Big Bang Theory to an epic creative close."

The news the sitcom is coming to an end appeared just weeks after it was announced there would be more of TVs favourite geeky scientists would be hitting our screens this year.

Season 12 of The Big Bang Theory will air this September.
