Almost 30 years since we were first introduced to bodacious duo Bill and Ted, it's now been announced that Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter will be reprising their iconic roles in another sequel - which is MOST EXCELLENT.

Deadline reports that the two actors are now confirmed for the long-awaited 'threequel', which will be titled Bill & Ted Face The Music and comes after 1989's Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure and its 1991 follow-up Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey.

The announcement comes after we found out that a script for a third film had been written, which came as fantastic news for fans of the slacker twosome.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Reeves and Winter were joined by Bill & Ted writers Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon, where the chances of a third film were discussed - and where it was revealed that a script for Bill & Ted Face The Music had been written.

Solomon said: "We are hoping to close a deal with some financiers. Hopefully within the next month or so, we'll have news that will stick."

He went on to say that as well as Reeves and Winter, Bill Sadler - who played Death - will also be making a return. He also announced that Steven Soderbergh and Scott Kroopf will producing and Dean Pariscot will direct.

Talking about trying to get the third film made, Winter told Entertainment Weekly: "The whole trajectory of getting the next one off the ground has been pretty much exactly like the experience of getting the original.

"Going to every studio, and they're like, 'What the eff is this?' It's this kind of independent spirit, and the films have an anachronistic quality to them that's a big part of what they are, fundamentally.

"I'm really happy that this one is the same. It doesn't feel like some stale knockoff that a studio would have immediately gone, 'Oh, this feels right. We have rebranded very successfully'."

Revealing more about plot details, Matheson said it will focus on where the duo are in their lives now: "You're told you're gonna save the world. And now you're 50 and you haven't done it. Now they're married, and it affects their marriages, and it affects their relationships with their kids, and it affects their everything."

Reeves also spoke about his keenness to get involved, telling the news outlet: "I love the characters so much - who they are, the spirit of their voice that Chris and Ed have given them."

Party on.
