Speed Star Keanu Reeves Boards Bus Once More After Emergency Landing

The actor stuck around and kept his fellow passengers entertained on the bus

It's been more than two decades since we last saw Keanu Reeves in a precarious situation on public transport, but he found himself hopping on a bus once again following travel difficulties.

The Matrix actor ended up stranded with fellow passengers when his flight from San Francisco to Burbank had to make an emergency landing at an airport in Bakersfield, California.

Faced with such adversity, you'd probably expect a 54-year-old millionaire to just call a chauffeur - or at least an Uber Exec - and carry on with his journey alone. Instead, Keanu stuck around and waited for the bus that would take everyone to their original destination - roughly 100 miles from Bakersfield.

This obviously went down very well with his fellow travellers, who couldn't believe their luck when they realised there was a major celebrity in their midst.

Several passengers took the opportunity to document the encounter, posting videos and updates on their Twitter accounts.

One fan posted a snap of Neo with the caption: "That time when your flight out from #GDC almost crashes and you have to emergency land in a remote airport but at least Keanu Reeves is having as bad a day as you are."

This was probably Keanu's most stressful bus journey for more than two decades.

Another passenger, using the slightly disconcerting handle @keanusgf, shared a series of videos - originally filmed by Brian Rea - of the A-lister chatting with those who had been stranded.

One of the videos on the series had the caption: "We might be riding a bus w/Keanu... he chose to stay and wait. (Ignore the footwear)."

Another clip shows Keanu calmly explaining the situation to people, telling them: "People who can unload the bags won't be here for three hours.

"The vans will be here in an hour so if you want to hit the road and deal with your bags later or deal with customer service and get it delivered later. Maybe."

The actor was filmed organising travel for stranded passengers.

Another video of the star saving the day - once again - was captioned: "Keanu sortin' it out (he's gorgeous btw)."

And when Keanu wasn't explaining the logistics of the situation, he was keeping morale high - during the next leg of their journey, a two-hour drive to Burbank, he read out some facts about the city of Bakersfield from his phone.

In a video he can be heard saying: "Its population is around 380,000, making it the ninth most populous city in California and the 52nd most populous city in the nation."

When he was fresh out of facts, the man behind characters such as John Wick moved onto 'Bakersfield sounds', again using his phone to play examples of the city's famous take on country music.

In a statement to Yahoo, a spokesperson for United Airlines said: "SkyWest Flight 5223, operating as United Express from San Francisco to Burbank on Saturday, March 23, diverted to Bakersfield due to a mechanical indication.

"The flight landed safely without incident in Bakersfield. Passengers deplaned normally at the gate and were then transported via ground transportation to Burbank."

He really is such a lovely human.
