It's the end of an era.

The eighth and final season of the fantasy drama television series Game of Thrones has understandably left a lot of people in tears - one of those people being Kit Harington a.k.a. Jon Snow.

Actor Harington became a sobbing mess when he finished filming the final scene of the show. Fair play to the guy - after all, he did spend much of his 20s in the sprawling fantasy world of HBO's hit show.

Opening up about the emotional moment, Harington told BBC Breakfast: "I burst into tears.

Jon Snow could be in for a second death.

"You know, it's a weird thing. I'm not sad about it ending. I just feel very joyous about it ending and having completed it.

"But it doesn't make it any less emotional."

This isn't the first time the actor's shed a tear for the show. Speaking about crying twice over the ending of the GoT era, he said: "The second time was the very end. Every season, you read at the end of the last script 'End of Season 1' or 'End of Season 2'. This read 'End of Game of Thrones'. And you realise, OK, it's really happening."

I'm not crying... I've just got something in my eye.

Seriously, though, this is one helluva goodbye in the TV world. Game of Thrones has become an international sensation thanks to its blend of cutthroat violence, soapy drama, and fantasy settings.

With just several months to go until the final season hitting our small screens, the producers are keeping their cards close to their chests by staying schtum about the plot.

Game Of Thrones

Spoiler alert - as anyone who watches the show will remember, the end of season seven saw Harington's Jon in bed with Daenerys Targaryen. What the pair don't know yet is that they're related, as we also found out Jon's actually the son of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark, leading to all kinds of crazy predictions and theories about the upcoming installment.

While none of us yet know the outcome of these events, what we can be certain of is that season eight is going to be absolutely epic. Winter is coming, people, and it's bringing a shitstorm of dramatics your way. April 2019 - get it in the diary.
