Yeah, it's going to be violent, but we already knew that, right?

It's not long now until Venom comes out. The superhero/villain movie starring Tom Hardy has been building up the hype surrounding it in recent weeks, with a deluge of of trailers, pictures, and clips.

To be quite honest with you, it looks rad.

Proper superhero fans should be very excited because this looks like it might even live up to the legacy of the comic books.

Marvel/Sony

Tom Hardy plays Eddie Brock, a journalist who is investigating a shadowy businessman, Carlton Drake.

Along the way he becomes entwined with a malevolent alien symbiote - basically an extra-terrestrial parasite that requires a host in order to survive - called Venom, and then all hell breaks loose.

In this latest clip Eddie Brock can be seen cornered by a load of very armed policemen. He is trying to convince them not to shoot, saying: "You do not want to do this, trust me."

It then transpires that it seems like they do - although they don't know what is coming.

Brock continues: "Alright, have it your own way..."

At which point, he transforms in to the huge, monstrous Venom character and sets about them in the worst way.

The alien symbiote swings them around, send them crashing through glass, climbs buildings, basically absolutely wrecks the gaff.

The clip then ends abruptly with the name of the film and the release date.

That release date, since we're here, is 5 October. That ain't a long time to wait to see what's going to happen, although we can have a pretty good guess already.

The film isn't officially part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe like Avengers, Doctor Strange, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Black Panther, but it is instead a part of Sony's Marvel Universe.

Despite not being a part of the MCU, Sony say that it is part of the same universe that the most recent Spider-Man films exist in, so there's a good chance of a crossover where those flicks are concerned.

In the comic book universe, Carlton Drake tries to get hold of Venom so that he can create more symbiotes of a similar style.

He eventually succeeds in creating five more - Lasher, Phase, Scream, Agony, and Riot.

That could mean that Tom Hardy and company will have a lot more alien madness to play with in future films - and we still haven't found out whether the even more nightmarish symbiote Carnage will be in the new movie.

In this one, Riz Ahmed will also star as Drake, and Scott Haze will play Roland Treece, the head of Treece International - a company that works with Drake's shady 'Life Foundation'.

That's all we know. Apart from the fact that it's going to kick off.

That's definitely going to happen.
