The Marvel Cinematic Universe is certainly a hotbed of excitement after Avengers: Infinity War turned everything on its head and left us with a lot of questions.
But as the dust settled on that epic superhero film, people are turning to the other upcoming MCU films to see how characters' story arcs might overlap, including Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain Marvel, Ant-Man and Spider-Man.
There are plenty of rumours circulating, but the next Spidey movie is currently dominating the headlines.
Comic Book Movie says the Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel will be set before Infinity War, which is kind of smart, considering... well, let's just say it didn't end well for the webslinger in that film. However, one supposed plot leak suggests this new adventure will take place directly before the events in the Avengers movie, ending with Peter Parker heading off on the field trip he ditches to join up with Iron Man et al.
Tom Holland's character will also need a passport for this chapter as it's reported he'll be saving the world while flying all over it. The site claims Spidey will go to England, Poland, Spain, Portugal, Greece, and Italy.
There's talk about Jake Gyllenhaal being cast as Mysterio, which would be his first proper inclusion in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The villain, known also by his civilian name Quentin Beck interestingly doesn't have any super powers. He's kind of like Batman and Iron Man in the sense that Mysterio relies on skills, such as being a master hypnotist and magician, as well as special effects devices and stage illusions to either subdue or escape his opponents.
That sounds a bit lacklustre when he's up against a guy who can shoot webs and has superhuman strength - but okay. I mean, in the comics, he's been one of Spidey's many nemeses since 1964, so it's safe to say he's pretty nails.
One of the more interesting titbits of information leaking to the public, according to CBM, is that Daredevil could be making an appearance in the movie.
Advert
We're guessing that's the Charlie Cox version of Daredevil from the recent MCU TV series, rather than the Ben Affleck incarnation from the much-derided 2003 movie - anyway, the latter is now Batman in the DC Extended Universe so he seems unlikely to cross over.
But it sounds as if Spidey could have his hands tie in the love department. While he was head over heels for MJ Watson in Homecoming, he could also have eyes for Jessica Drew, aka Spider-Woman - while the rumour mill also suggests that Gwen Stacey, one of his girlfriends in the comics, could be due to appear.
Looks like this film will be jam-packed with interesting elements, if all the rumours are true. It's scheduled for release on 5 July next year so we've got a bit of time before anything's concrete.
