Unless you've been living under a rock for the last fortnight you might not know but Line of Duty is back on BBC this evening and the OGs of the crew have dubbed it the 'best' series yet.

But are AC-12 officers, Adrian Dunbar, Martin Compston and Vicky McClure, already prepping for a spin-off?

When they were asked which other fictional police unit they would like to be a part of, Vicky McClure - who plays DC Kate Fleming - told LADbible: "I don't want to go to prison in my own life but I'm quite curious about just, you know, prison, being a prison guard - that would be good."

Adrian Dunbar - aka Superintendent Ted Hastings - chimed in: "The spin off, the spin off," Martin Compston, who plays DS Steve Arnott, suggested the TV show Cell Block H.

The trio proceeded to lose it over the 'H' hints which have been lurking for some time now before saying that this new series brings with it AC-12's 'toughest test to date'.

When asked which they would most like or choose to be killed off, Adrian Dunbar quickly answered: "Jed [show creator Jed Mercurio]." He's thought about that one before hasn't he?

Dunbar added: "He really winds me up. I think we could probably put a series together ourselves at this point. I don't think we really need him anymore.

"I mean, go off and do the Bodyguard and all the rest of the nonsense that he does but basically if we were going to wipe somebody out it would probably be him."

Speaking about the upcoming series, Martin Compston told LADbible: "You always hear stupid bands say 'this is the best one', but this is the best one."

McClure added: "There's always a return of somebody or something, you've got to keep your eyes peeled. Those who are the die hard fans or those who have gone back and re-watched the whole thing - you've probably got a better chance of picking out things that other people won't."

With Compston agreeing: "There's some really good throwbacks this year."

A huge part of the show's success has been down to the guest appearances from the likes of Keeley Hawes and Thandie Newton.

This year the cast has welcomed Stephen Graham (This Is England) and Martin said: "Stephen is incredible in this series, it was a joy to watch him work. He's definitely the scariest guy we've ever been up against."

Now we're on countdown...
