It's always a little awkward when somebody has their card declined, even in the off licence, let alone on a first date. But the scenario usually gets people pissing themselves rather than pity when the card holder is someone who has spent the previous hour going on about their swanky lifestyle.
Introducing Calum, who had dinner with Lucy on Tuesday night's episode of First Dates.
The flower seller said he would take 'whatever' having been to boarding school and said he spent his days selling flowers in wealthy areas like Notting Hill, 'chatting up yummy mummies'.

However, he said he was now ready to find a partner for staying in holiday cottages and for going on skiing trips.
Speaking to Merlin at the bar, Calum mentioned that he flew in from a salmon fishing trip in Inverness and after Lucy arrived, he was quick to mention his parents' 85-acre farm.
However, when it eventually came to settling the bill, Calum's card was declined - twice.

After it was initially declined, Calum opened up his phone to transfer some money to his account, with Lucy all the while offering to pay.
But after explaining that he simply had his money split across numerous accounts, the transaction was rejected once again - much to Calum's dismay and Lucy's amusement.
Perhaps, though, it was Lucy's earlier rejection of his wine choice that pushed him over budget.
Still, it beggars belief that people allow this sort of public humiliation to happen to them on TV, a bit like when people rock up on Come Dine With Me with a recipe they've 'never tried before' and completely balls it up. Make sure you try out your meal before you appear on Come Dine With Me and make sure you have money in your account before appearing on First Dates... or accept the inevitable public ridicule.
On social media, some people felt sorry for Calum and his predicament, though most people just laughed at him.

One person said: "Shot down in flames there wasn't he... so posh but has no money."
Another said: "He's a prat! All mouth and no trousers!!"
A third commented: "Bless him! I felt bad for him and she didn't help!"
Ultimately, though, Calum had the last laugh, as Lucy agreed to see him again... No doubt he'll enjoy a good brag about that next time he's pheasant shooting with bankers in Sussex.
