Michael C. Hall is known for being the face of some fairly iconic characters, not least Dexter Morgan - the titular serial killer of hit crime drama series Dexter, which was an incredible turn for the actor.

He also played David Fisher in the award-winning Six Feet Under, HBO's drama series following a family who run a funeral home in Los Angeles, which ran from 2001 to 2005.

But now it seems he's up for taking on another cult name - the Caped Crusader that is Batman, no less.

Well, he's technically already played Batman before, but only as a voice role in the animated Justice League: Gods & Monsters.

In an interview with Yahoo, he explained: "In that particular iteration of the superhero origin story, it was an alternative universe, he was a vampire."

Hall added: "But Batman in general, I like him as a superhero, because he's not particularly endowed with superpowers, he's just smart. And the suit!"

However, some people reckon there's someone else he'd be better suited playing - Batman's maniacal nemesis, the Joker.

To be honest, he may find himself becoming a busy man if he doesn't stop offering himself up for stuff, having also said he's open to a Dexter reboot.

It's been nearly FIVE years since Showtime called time on the epic series and some fans have been begging for the show or at least some of the characters to return in some way, shape or form.

If that happens, Michael C. Hall may be up for reprising his role - but only if the show has a killer idea.

The actor told Variety: "When Dexter ended, I wanted to mix it up and felt like the cumulative effect of the things I have done since has served as a sort of 'Dexorcism.' [But] it's a possibility given how the show ended that we could revisit Dexter."

He added: "I have just yet to, for my part, imagine or hear someone else's idea that makes it feel worth doing. But never say never."
