Sixteen years since he was last seen in Goldmember, the International Man of Mystery, Austin Powers, could be returning to the silver screen. This time, though, he might have to play second fiddle to his brother/nemesis, Dr. Evil.

Austin Power's creator and actor Mike Myers appeared to confirm that he will be strapping back on his chest wig to play the buck-toothed 60s sex machine again.

When asked about the possibility at the premiere of his latest film, Terminal, he said: "Well, I can't really, I can't say. But it's, you know, maybe. It's a very strong maybe. We'll see."

So you're saying there's a chance? Excellent.

He continued: "I would love to, I've had three kids in the last six years and that's sort of been where my focus has been.

"But, you know, I love doing all the characters and it's a non-stop party when we're shooting. It's fun."

Everyone's favourite British spy (sorry, James Bond) first hit screens in 1997's hilarious Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery and then appeared again in The Spy Who Shagged Me and Goldmember. He's been cemented into comedy cinema history ever since.

If the franchise is to make a return, you can bet that Myers will also have to reprise his role as Dr. Evil.

In fact, Myers reckons that the next film in the series should be focussed on the bald baddie rather than on Austin. He said: "I would love to do a movie from Dr. Evil's perspective. So it would be Dr. Evil 1, Austin Powers 4, is how I would roll... Start the campaign, please. Thank you."

He's been practising for the role again, at least. Back in April he performed a sketch taking aim at US President Donald Trump on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

In the skit he portrayed Dr. Evil as an annoyed former member of Trump's cabinet. He also announced that he would be running for President alongside Facebook supremo Mark Zuckerberg in 2020, but that's a story for another day.

On person who sadly won't be on board for the next movie (if it happens) is Verne Troyer. The actor, famous for playing Mini Me in the series, sadly died aged 49 on 21 April.

Myers paid tribute to his co-star, saying: "Verne's legacy is that he was a fantastic comedy actor.

"We wrote it and the part wasn't much, and he made it definitely better. He was a great stuntman, a great dancer, a great mime and a great human being."

If classic comedy films making a comeback is your thing, you can also start to get excited about the return of Bill & Ted to our screens.

A new film starring Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter called Bill & Ted Face the Music was announced earlier this week.
