Another day, another announcement that Damon Herriman is set to play infamous cult-leader Charles Manson.

Following the news that Quentin Tarantino has cast the Aussie actor as Manson for his latest flick Once Upon a Time in Hollywood; Collider has reported that David Fincher has also picked the star for the second season of Mindhunter. So, whatever vibe this guy gives off it clearly screams 'murderous cult leader' to directors.

According to the website, Herriman will play Manson as he was in the 80s, long after the Manson Family murders, in the upcoming second season of the show. Whereas in Tarantino's movie he will be playing the former cult leader at the height of his crime spree in 1969.

The website goes on to claim that although his movie-Manson role was announced first, Herriman was actually snapped up for Mindhunter first and has even filmed some scenes.

In an interview with Billboard, Fincher revealed that the upcoming season will centre on the Atlanta child murders, which took place between 1979 and 1981, which saw the murders of 28 children, teens and adults.

Twenty-three-year old Wayne Williams was arrested, charged and convicted with two of the adult murders. Cops later attributed many of the children's murders to him, but Williams was never tried or convicted.

As yet, Netflix has declined to comment on Collider's report.

The second season is reported to also feature killers Son of Sam killer David Berkowitz, who killed six people, and the BTK killer Dennis Rader, who tortured and killed 10 people, giving himself the nickname 'Bind. Torture. Kill'.

Netflix hasn't announced the release date for the second season, but Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is released on 26 July 2019, so we don't have to wait too long to catch our first glimpse of Herriman as the late cult leader.

The first season of Mindhunter is currently streaming on Netflix and comes highly recommended by me and if my opinion isn't good enough for you, then it has a solid 8.6 on IMDB and an impressive 96 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.

So confident in its success, Netflix signed the show up for two more seasons before the first even aired.
