Netflix has revealed its most watched show for April and there's some surprising titles in the top ten.

Usually the streaming giant keeps tight-lipped about its ratings and the popularity of its shows, but in a series of tweets from its official UK account its shared details of what Brits were binge-watching last month.

Zombie-drama Black Summer took the top spot, followed by Ricky Gervais' smash-hit After Life, Riverdale took third place.

The fourth most watched show was the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, with Star Trek: Discovery in fifth.

The eagerly-anticipated Chis Lilley comedy Lunatics was the sixth most viewed show, while the BBC's Bodyguard came in seventh. The recently axed Santa Clarita Diet was in eighth place, followed by Bonding with Brooklyn Nine-Nine rounding out the top 10.

If you're not one of those who helped get Black Summer into the top spot, it centres on the immediate aftermath of a zombie apocalypse and follows a group of people who are desperately attempting to find the missing members of their family.

The official synopsis reads: "In the dark, early days of a zombie apocalypse, complete strangers band together to find the strength they need to survive and get back to loved ones."

Despite only being released a month ago, the show already has a loyal army of fans who have sung its praises on social media.

One viewer wrote: "Seriously guys, don't miss #BlackSummer on Netflix. This is a jolting, horrifying and creative portrayal of the zombie apocalypse that doesn't give you even a minute to breathe. I truly can't recommend it enough."

While another posted: "Black Summer is waaay better than Walking Dead." So there you go, if you haven't seen it yet, jump on the bandwagon quick.

As well as the most watched TV shows, Netflix also shared the most watched reality shows, the most watched documentaries, the most watched non-English language shows and the top 10 films.

They also shared an overall top 10 - which saw David Attenborough's Our Planet as the most watched title on Netflix, The Perfect Date came in second, followed by The Highwaymen, The Silence, Black Summer, After Life, The Spy Who Dumped Me, Riverdale, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and You Vs. Wild.
