Netflix has a new horror-thriller in store for us, and just from the trailer alone it's already being dubbed a crossover between Stephen King and A Quiet Place - which sounds nothing short of epic, if you ask us.

Bird Box is a new film launching on Netflix this Christmas, and the trailer has now dropped to get us all suitably spooked and in the mood.

Tweeting the trailer, Rotten Tomatoes said that the first trailer for the post-apocalyptic thriller 'feels like Stephen King meets #AQuietPlace'.

Den of Geek has also referred to the film as 'a neat looking horror that looks like it might be the new A Quiet Place'.

The drama, which has Danish director Susanne Bier (Serena, The Night Manager) at the helm, is based on a 2014 novel by Josh Malerman.

The film's synopsis reads: "When a mysterious force decimates the world's population, only one thing is certain: if you see it, you take your life.

"Facing the unknown, Malorie finds love, hope and a new beginning only for it to unravel. Now she must flee with her two children down a treacherous river to the one place left that may offer sanctuary. But to survive, they'll have to undertake the perilous two-day journey blindfolded.

"Academy Award winner Sandra Bullock leads an all-star cast that includes Trevante Rhodes, with Sarah Paulson, and John Malkovich in #BirdBox, a compelling new thriller from Academy Award winner Susanne Bier."

People are already excited for the film, with one person tweeting to say that it 'looks amazing'.

Someone else said: "This is like quiet place but with a different sense..."

Another wrote: "So excited for this. Sandra and Sarah together in a film - it's gotta be great!"

But while many are making comparisons between the forthcoming film and A Quiet Place, some have been quick to point out that the original book Bird Box came out way before the

One person tweeted: "Bird Box is a book by Josh Malerman back in 2014. Made wayyyy before A Quiet Place."

Another said: "For people commenting it's a ripoff of A Quiet Place, actually they ripped off Bird Box. Bird Box was written way before A Quiet Place."

Either way, we think it looks ace. You'll be able to catch it on Netflix from 21 December.
