Amir Khan Is Making Way More From 'I'm A Celebrity' Than Everyone First Thought

The boxer will be the best-paid contestant in the history of 'I'm A Celeb', overtaking former Queen of the Jungle Katie Price.

So it turns out that Amir Khan isn't just getting loads of money from appearing on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Here! Nope, he's actually getting an absolute shit ton. And that's despite being rubbish at Bushtucker Trials, too.

Initially it was estimated that the light-welterweight boxing world champ would be taking home around £250,000. However, he's now said to be getting a fee in the region of £400,000 ($530,000) for his stint in the jungle, according to The Sun.

Considering others' salaries are reported to be as low (well, not low, but y'know) as £25,000 ($33,000), that's not half bad at all.

That officially makes him the best-paid contestant in the history of I'm A Celeb, overtaking former Queen of the Jungle Katie Price.

"Amir was a great get, but he came at a hefty cost," a source told The Sun. "He's going to be the best-paid celeb they've ever had.

"There have been rumours of huge sums being paid to the celebrities but they're often highly exaggerated.

"Katie Price got somewhere close, but Amir's is slightly higher again."

He may have already made a name for himself in sport, but the hefty price may also have something to do with his recent, high-profile marriage problems, according to The Sun's source.

"He has plenty to gain in improving his public image - but he also wasn't doing it for peanuts. ITV have dug deep," the source added.

He also put his foot in it when an old tweet surfaced saying he'd never go on I'm A Celeb because it is for 'has beens'. He also admitted he had never seen the show. Good one, fella.

The boxer has proven himself as a bit of a wuss on the show so far, failing to complete his first Bushtucker Trial that included an encounter with a snake.

His second trial was a bit more successful, but we wouldn't exactly say he smashed it. Locked in a huge tank that filled with water - as well as eels, crabs and more - Amir had to open a series of sealed boxes to get out. And it was going well, until ol' butterfingers here managed to drop the key to the bottom of the tank.

For £400,000 you'd at least think he could handle a snake, or a few creepy crawlies in a tank of water. Let's face it, most of us would do more for way, way less.
