Well, there you have it. The nominations for the 90th Academy Awards are out, and they make for some pretty interesting reading.
Everything is pretty much as we expected in the Best Actor category. Gary Oldman looks set to win his first Oscar after having previously being nominated for his role in Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy in 2012.

Oldman plays Winston Churchill in Darkest Hour, which tells the story of the early part of World War Two during which Churchill was forced to contemplate negotiating Great Britain's surrender to Hitler's Nazi army.
Darkest Hour also picked up an award for the make-up that made him six kilos heavier to look like the former Prime Minister.
The Best Actress award looks pretty certain to go to Frances McDormand for her role in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri. She faces competition from Margot Robbie, Saoirse Ronan, Meryl Streep and Sally Hawkins.

After winning a whole heap of Golden Globes, Three Billboards will also look to take home the big prize in the Best Picture Category. It will face competition from Call Me By Your Name, Darkest Hour, Dunkirk, Get Out, Ladybird, Phantom Thread, The Post, and The Shape of Water.
The Shape of Water has enjoyed a huge awards season, taking home a couple of Golden Globes, as well as four Critic's Choice awards earlier this month.
It nearly equalled the most nominations for a film ever in Oscars history, falling just short with 13 - Only La La Land, Titanic, and All About Eve have ever had more recognition.

Many of the awards that The Shape of Water has been nominated for are for craft categories such as score, and sound mixing, and film editing.
Director Guillermo Del Toro is up for best director though alongside Christopher Nolan, Paul Thomas Anderson.
This year also saw the Oscars respond to criticisms about gender and race diversity, with directorial nominations for Jordan Peele and Greta Gerwig.
The ceremony will take place on 4 March 2018.
