Everyone's been getting behind the Sky Original miniseries Chernobyl, some may have even been hoping and praying for a second season but we hate to break it to you guys - it ain't happening.

First of all, let's not forget that the narrative was wrapped up for every character in the final credits, and with their stories being based on real life events, the idea of a sequel would beg the question: where exactly do you go after that?

Anyway, putting all of that aside - the man behind it all has point blank refused to do a follow-up.

News of a potential second season came from Decider, who posted a story on Twitter with the caption: "#ChernobylHBO creator Craig Mazin (@clmazin) spoke to our @KaylCobb about what a potential Season 2 could look like".

The article itself pointed out that Chernobyl was always intended to be a 'limited series' and now Mazin has made his feelings very clear on a potential Season 2. However, he did say that it might not be the end of the relationship between himself and HBO.

"If I came to HBO and said, 'I want to do another season of Chernobyl, except it's gonna be about another terrible tragedy,' whether it's Bhopal or Fukushima or something like that, I would imagine they at least would give me polite interest," Mazin told Decider.

He then went on to explain what his vision would be if another season became a possibility, adding: "The disaster is not what drew me to Chernobyl. It's the specifics of Chernobyl.

"If I were to continue this anthologically, probably it would be another investigation of another aspect of Soviet life because that part is something that is fascinating to me and kind of exciting to view again. It helps us re-imagine our own paths, too."

Season 2 looks like it's off the table, but we can't wait to see what else he's got in mind.
