People Are Freaking Out About Mr Mime From 'Pokémon: Detective Pikachu'

They're not OK with Mr Mime, but presumably fine with a rat creature with the voice of Ryan Reynolds.

Before we begin, let's talk about 'The Uncanny Valley'. That's when an android, animation, or simulation looks a little bit like a human, but not that much like a human - enough to make you feel uneasy about it.

A lot of people are getting a feeling sort of like that after clapping eyes on the Pokémon character 'Mr Mime' that was featured pretty heavily in the trailer for Pokémon: Detective Pikachu that came out yesterday.

Many people have been heading online to register their distaste at seeing Mr Mime reduced to a creepy character that wouldn't look out of place in It, or one of the Chucky films. After all Pokémon: Detective Pikachu is supposed to be gritty, realistic crime drama film, right?

In fact, some of those people have helpfully pointed out that Mr Mime bears more than a slight resemblance to one of the many evil sentient dolls that crop up throughout the history of film.

Just have a look for yourself.

Some people think that they have already figured out the plot of the movie. A truly bold claim. One Twitter user said: "He did it.Whatever crime Pikachu is investigating, it was 10000000000% Mr. Mime."

Great, well that has saved us all the trouble of a) wasting our money watching the film and b) watching a film that will presumably be so awful that we'll want the two hours spent watching it back.

Some people are on board, however. Another person said: "We now need a live action Pokémon x It crossover featuring Mr. Mime."

Now that would be a film worth getting down to a cinema for. 100% would watch.

It's a popular idea, too. It's already been mocked up by one clever clogs. They said: "In case you were unsure that the new Mr. Mime is a nightmare, remember this one thing.

"We all mime down here."

Bizarrely, another thing that people seem to be picking up on is that Mr Mime's shoulders appear to be dodgeballs.

Why you ask? Because it's 2018 of course, idiots.

Either way, Pokémon: Detective Pikachu will star Ryan Reynolds as the internal monologue of Pokémon's most famous fur ball, Pikachu.

It looks as if the premise is that only one person can hear what he is actually saying and not just 'Pika Pika'. They then set off to solve crimes and save the guy's dad.

Reynolds announced his involvement in typical fashion, tweeting: "I think we all knew I'd wind up as a miniature detective repeatedly saying the same two words. Just didn't think it'd be this soon."

Can't wait, mate.
