The trailer for Spider-Man: Far From Home dropped earlier today, sending Marvel fans into quite the frenzy.

In the long-awaited new trailer, we can see Peter Parker/Spidey (Tom Holland) setting off on a school trip before meeting Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury for the first time.

But as well as that, we also finally get an up-close look at Mysterio, the illusionist mastermind played by the brilliant Jake Gyllenhaal - and if you thought the hype around the trailer itself was strong, just wait until you hear what fans had to say about this.

Turns out people are VERY into the idea of Mysterio (and ol' Gyllenhaal, for that matter) rocking up for this next Spider-Man flick, with one person writing on social media: "Jakey G looks fantastic as Mysterio."

Another fan wrote: "Jake G going to be awesome in it!!!!"

A third added: "Mysterio is damn cool!"

Others admired Mysterio's get-up, which includes a badass purple cape and his signature fishbowl helmet.

"He's got the fishbowl and that's all I care about," one person commented.

Someone on Twitter also said: "#SpiderManFarFromHome they kept the fishbowl and im 1000% here for it! Mysterio looks badass!"

Another wrote: "MYSTERIO HAS HIS FISHBOWL HEAD YAAAAAAS #FarFromHome."

At this point, not a whole lot is known about the details of Gyllenhaal's turn as Mysterio in the film, but the actor did give a few nuggets of information away during a CCXP panel.

He explained: "There are these threats to the world, the Elementals, elemental creatures.

"Mysterio is someone who knows about them and wants to make sure that the world is safe from them, and Nick Fury asks him to come on and help because he's the only one who really understands them.

"Then he teams up with friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man and unfortunately has to make him become more than a friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man."

Very vague, but we'll take it. In the meantime, let's just be grateful for the BOWL HEAD!
