Pierce Brosnan Backs Tom Hardy To Be The Next James Bond

Pierce Brosnan Backs Tom Hardy To Be The Next James Bond

Apparently, he'd bring a 'wiggle' to the role, whatever that means

https://www.ladbible.com/tv-and-filmWith all of the betting that is going on around who is going to be the next James Bond, it can get a bit silly at times.

Recently, Emily Blunt moved up the rankings as the shortest odds for a woman to become 007, and even shorter (12/1) is ANY female at all.

While those odds might seem good, the likelihood of it happening is still pretty slim.

Tom Hardy, however, stands a pretty good chance.

Various bookmakers have him as the favourite overall to don the famous tuxedo as the next Bond. Well, according to the oddsmakers, it's either him or James Norton.

And now Hardy has been given a significant shove in the right direction by a ringing endorsement from James Bond alumnus Pierce Brosnan.

Brosnan took on the role on four occasions, and has now thrown his weight behind Hardy as the next in line to the Aston Martin.

He paid tribute to the work done by Daniel Craig - the current James Bond, who's signed on for at least one more film - but said that Tom Hardy would bring a certain 'wiggle' to it.

Exactly what that means, we have no idea, but it seems to be a positive thing. Maybe.

Brosnan told The Mail On Sunday's Event magazine: "Daniel Craig has been an incredible Bond.

"He's very physical, he looks lethal. You genuinely believe this is someone who could kill a man."

He continued: "I think Tom Hardy could be a good Bond. I'd be happy to see him do it. You need an actor who can put a bit of wiggle into it - that's what makes Bond."

Yes, James Bond has always been known for his wiggle - sure, whatever.

To be fair, that was probably the least controversial thing he said in the interview. In fact, he laid into the current President of the United States of America, Donald Trump.

Brosnan has lived in the USA for quite a while now, but says that he is seriously considering moving back home to Ireland, where he was born, after Trump's election.

He said: "That man has torn this country apart and you have to work out how much longer you can stay here,"

Brosnan will next appear on screens around the world with a follow-up to the Mamma Mia film of a few years back.

This one is called Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again and we can pretty much expect more of the same - romantic comedy with a healthy amount of ABBA songs thrown in for good measure.

If you're waiting for the next Bond film, it's going to be out on 25 October 2019 and, as mentioned, will be the last chance to see Daniel Craig take on the role.
