It probably won't come as a shock to you, but Ricky and Morty has become the number one comedy on television.

Much to the delight of fans, after what felt like aeons of begging for it to happen, the third season aired in April this year. It's sadly come to an end, but still - that's 10 more episodes for us to binge watch at any given time.

A press release from Adult Swim says that it has the most-watched show with adults between the ages of 18-24 and 18-34, Uproxx reports, with the third season bringing the highest ratings in the network's history. Ergo - top show.

"Rick and Morty is truly what a modern day hit looks like across multiple screens and multiple touchpoints," said Christina Miller, President of the Cartoon Network, Adult Swim and Boomerang. "Dan and Justin have created a world, not just a show, and fans are completely engaged."

The show is now being described as "a multi-platform sensation, not just on television, but across digital, gaming, livestreaming, retail, and fan experiences," which is pretty much impossible to disagree with.

Back in April the first episode of the season dropped on 1 April.

Fans were understandably cautious at the time, given that it was April Fool's Day - after all, if anything's posted about favourite shows, actors or films on that date, you reluctantly ignore it because there's a strong chance it won't be true.

However, thanks to one Rick and Morty fan who pestered Dan Harmon, the first episode was available to watch on a loop.

Unfortunately, when the official Twitter account for Rick and Morty let people know they could watch it, no one believed it. In fact, people were pretty defiant about it.

However, not only were we treated to the first glimpse of season three, we were also given a number of short clips from Adult Swim.

Eventually the second episode followed on 30 July, with weekly shows following.

Luckily, there will be a season four, but given how long it took to get the third, you might have to wait a while.
