Ronda Rousey Wins Her First WWE Match At Wrestlemania

The UFC star defeated Triple H and Stephanie McMahon in her first match

Ronda Rousey is legitimately nails, but, as the enduring fighting career of Shane McMahon proves, that means nothing in WWE. Being an Olympian never made anyone like Kurt Angle and being a UFC champ never made Ken Shamrock win a fight (one for the kids there), so the world looked on with baited breath at how Ronda Rousey would get on in her first match, teamed with Angle against Triple H and Stephanie McMahon.

It was a fight that was classic WWE: Rousey began on the outside and let Kurt and Hunter duke it out for a while, while Stephanie exploited the good natured naiveté of the UFC champ by cheating as much as she could. All good heat, good clean fun in the world of pro wrestling.

When Ronda did get in, she acquitted herself pretty well - though perhaps it should be factored in that she's actually a real athlete, while Triple H, for all his legendary status, is 48 years old, while her partner Angle turns 50 at the end of the year.

All the hits of the UFC genre were present: there were a few periods of mega unloading punches and a full repertoire of armbars, though Stephanie McMahon proved less effective at kicking her head off than Holly Helm did.

In the end, it was Ronda's famous armbar that did for Stephanie, but the image that will remain is Ronda hoisting Triple H above her head. Yep, 10st flat Ronda lifting Triple H.

All in all, a good start for Ronda.
