​Simon Pegg Admits He’s Written A ‘Ridiculous’ Vampire-Driven ‘Shaun Of The Dead’ Sequel Treatment

I think it's safe to see that we'd all like to see a sequel to Shaun of the Dead, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and Edgar Wright's 2004 epic horror parody.

And although it doesn't look like we will be seeing one any time soon, it has emerged that Pegg has written a treatment for a follow-up that sounds like it would be absolutely hilarious.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Pegg said: "I jokingly wrote a treatment for From Dusk Till Shaun, which was a sequel to Shaun of the Dead.

"It was all about Shaun and Ed having to go up to Edinburgh, or something. I don't know. It was ridiculous. And it was a joke. It wasn't like a serious pitch. Edgar thought it would be funny to do the film again, but with vampires. But it was all just pub talk."

Edgar Wright added that they have also toyed with other ideas for a follow-up.

"There was a brief idea we had, that we entertained for all of like 72 hours, where I thought you could do an alternate reality sequel," said the director, on exploring potential options. "It basically starts with the same movie but then it becomes not about zombies. But these films, they take three years. So, it's like, if you're doing another movie, let's do something completely different."

The original Shaun of the Dead was the first in Wright and Pegg's 'Three Flavours Cornetto' trilogy, followed by 2007's Hot Fuzz and 2013's The World's End. It has been rated as the third greatest comedy film of all time in a Channel 4 poll and Quentin Tarantino even named it as one of the top 20 best films since 1992.

Wright recently returned to cinemas with Baby Driver, a fast-paced car chase thriller starring Ansel Elgort and Kevin Spacey, and his first directorial work since The World's End. The film currently holds an approval rating of 93 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.

Since a Shaun of the Dead remake isn't in the pipeline, and with all the hype surrounding his comments, you've got to be thinking Pegg's going to be heading to the Winchester, having a nice cold pint, and waiting for it to all blow over.
