'Saturday Night Live' Pays Tribute To Bishop Michael Curry With Parody

"I preached and I testified, and I yelled while 500 stuffy English people looked at me like I was a fart in an elevator!"

If there's one highlight from the royal wedding (other than Harry and Meghan getting hitched, obviously), it has to be Bishop Michael Curry - whose rousing speech proved so iconic that he's now even been parodied on Saturday Night Live.

SNL stars paid tribute to Curry in the 'Weekend Update' segment, with Kenan Thompson playing the now-world-famous bishop, being interviewed by Michael Che - who introduced him as the 'unexpected star' of the wedding.

"Wassup Michael!" Thompson yelled. "It is good to be around black folks again!"

Che then asked how the service went, with Thompson replying: "Oh it was tough man, real tough.

"I preached and I testified, and I yelled while 500 stuffy English people looked at me like I was a fart in an elevator!

"It felt like somebody opened a chicken and waffles kiosk in the middle of a Pottery Barn!"

He continued to explain why some of the haters felt it went on a bit, adding: "Love is great. Love is redemptive. Love can change the world. And love is what makes a Subaru a Subaru.

"They told me I had five minutes, but the good Lord multiplied it into a cool 16."

Fair dos, Curry. Fair dos.

Curry's inclusion in the ceremony is certainly an interesting break from Royal protocol as in the past only British priests have been invited for these occasions.

The 65-year-old was also making significant steps for African Americans on his home soil by being the first black head of the Episcopal Church.

When he was announced as a speaker at the Royal Wedding, he released a statement saying: "The love that has brought and will bind Prince Harry and Ms Meghan Markle together has its source and origin in God, and is the key to life and happiness.

"And so we celebrate and pray for them today."

And the fact that he got a nod on SNL will come as no surprise to anyone who saw just how next-level that speech was.

The American Bishop brought a hell of a lot of energy and excitement during the ceremony and also had some poignant points to make.

He quoted from Martin Luther King Jr and told the crowd: "We must discover the power of love, the power, the redemptive power of love. And when we discover that we will be able to make of this old world a new world."

People on social media went absolutely wild for his speech - with many noting that the royals seemingly unimpressed reactions.

Wedding services can usually get a little dry, but this guy made sure this one was anything but.

And when he finished his speech, Karen Gibson and The Kingdom Choir busted out an incredible rendition of 'Stand By Me' - the ultimate mic drop.
