Sophie Turner Reveals Sansa Stark's Transformation Into The 'Warrior Of Winterfell'

Sophie Turner Reveals Sansa Stark's Transformation Into The 'Warrior Of Winterfell'

She's come a long way since 'Game of Thrones' started

Today marks exactly 52 days until we'll see the next and final series of Game of Thrones. That's not that long, when you think about it, but we've still got some distance to cover before we'll find out what happens in Westeros.

With that in mind, we've got to clutch at a few straws to try to get an advance glimpse of what is going to happen. Step forward, Sophie Taylor.

Sophie, who portrays the character of Sansa Stark, is famously a little bit lackadaisical when it comes to letting stuff about the show slip. In fact, she recently revealed that she's already told some of her mates what has happened.

Now, she's said that she's going to be suiting up in armour for the final battle. That's a massive transformation for her character, and also maybe offers us something of an insight into the plot.

At the beginning of the show, Sansa was a bratty, spoiled teenager with aspirations of being Queen. Now, after undergoing some - frankly, harrowing - 'personal development' she's a domineering, brave, warrior.

Not bad for a woman who has been abused by Joffrey Baratheon and Ramsay Bolton. Not many people get away from those two and live to tell the tale.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Turner said: "This is the first time I've had armour.

"The idea of it being very protective and she buttons herself up,

"I wanted her to have a bit of armour and be a bit more warrior like. She's like the warrior of Winterfell."

Fair play. Does this mean she's setting off to battle the Night's King and his vast - and ever-growing - army of the dead?

Perhaps, perhaps not.

Basically, we know very little about what is coming, so we have to work with what we're given. We do know that Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and Daenerys Targaryen are headed for Winterfell - Sansa and Jon's ancestral (sort of) home - because we've seen a very brief teaser clip.

Outside of that, we're living firmly in the realms of guesswork.

In fact, we've been expecting a trailer to drop for what feels like an age now. It had been rumoured that HBO were going to drop the trailer before the half-time show in this year's Super Bowl.

Whilst that didn't materialise in the end, we did get a silly 'Dilly Dilly' advert in conjunction with booze-brand Bud Light.

Sure, it was a bit of a laugh, but we didn't learn anything that we didn't already know. Namely, don't fuck about with dragons - you're going to get burned to a crisp.

It's all well and good to troll your entire fanbase, but let's have the real trailer now. Then we can really start to get excited for the new season.

Make it happen, HBO.
