Taron Egerton has proven himself to be quite the #proudmom, having shared a photo of the moment he and his Rocketman co-star Richard Madden found out about him landing a gig with Marvel.

While Egerton is supposedly destined to play the next Wolverine, it's been a particularly big year or two for Madden. He's gone on to land some huge roles since his breakthrough performance as Robb Stark in Game of Thrones - including BBC series Bodyguard and this year's Elton John biopic.

But now the Scottish actor has even bigger fish to fry, having bagged himself a role in the forthcoming Eternals film, which Marvel announced this weekend at San Diego Comic-Con.

Once the cat was out of the bag, Egerton jumped onto Instagram to sing his friend's praises by sharing a grinning selfie from the Met Gala back in May - apparently marking the moment the two found out the good news.

"This was the moment we found out my mate had superpowers," he wrote.

"Proud. Love you mate. @maddenrichard."

Egerton's face says it all - especially while Madden looks like an embarassed son in the background, thinking: "Mommmmmmmmmmm! Shut up... Be cool in front of my new Marvel friends."

Many fans were glad to see Egerton had his pal's back - with one commenting: "LEGENDS SUPPORT LEGENDS."

Another person wrote: "Taron being an active king here on insta."

Someone else said: "OMG THIS BROMANCE SPARKS A LOT OF JOY."

While a fourth added: "The power this picture holds."

In Marvel's Eternals, which is a superhero flick based on the comics of the same name, Madden will be playing Ikaris, an Eternal 'fueled by cosmic energy'.

Angelina Jolie has also come on board as Thena, Salma Hayek as the leader of the Eternals, Ajak, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Lia McHugh as Sprite and Don Lee as Gilgamesh.

The premise follows a race of powerful cosmic beings who look like any other humans, but their advanced biology means they have long lives and superpowers.

Filming has already begun, and the movie is scheduled to be released on 6 November 2020.
