A teaser trailer for forthcoming Suicide Squad spin-off movie, Birds of Prey, appears to have been leaked - giving us our first glimpse of Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) and co. in their full get-up.

Showing clips of Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn dancing around in an eccentric, multi-coloured coat along with brief glimpses of other characters, the trailer simply said: "See you soon."

Along with Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress, Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary, Ella Jay Basco as Cassandra Cain, Rose Perez as Renee Montoya and Chris Messina as Victor Zsasz, anyone else spot Ewan McGregor as Black Mask in there?

We see you, McGregor.

Birds of Prey will follow Harley Quinn as she teams up with other anti-heroes of DC Comics - including Black Canary, Huntress and Renee Montoya - to help a young Cassanda Cain.

Margot Robbie shared a first glimpse of Harley Quinn in forthcoming Suicide Squad spin-off movie Birds of Prey earlier today, captioning the photo teasingly: "Miss me?"

In the photo, Robbie also appears to be wearing a necklace that reads 'Bruce'.

Fans were chuffed to see the return of Quinn, with one writing: "HARLEY IS BACK BITCHES."

Another said: "Holy shit, it's happening."

Someone else added: "The queen is back hell yes."

A fourth commented: "Harley Quinn I missed ya crazy ass gurl."

"Heck yeah queen Harley is back," another wrote.

The film was reported to begin shooting on 14 January, and is expected to wrap in April.

While Suicide Squad didn't necessarily live up to the lofty standards set by rival studio, Marvel, Margot Robbie's portrayal of Harley Quinn was one of few highlights.

She was was praised by critics for bringing life to an otherwise disjointed film, and it wasn't long before her very own spin-off movie was announced. It's also believed (and hoped) that Birds of Prey could be the first in a trilogy of spin-offs focusing on Harley Quinn.

The character's distinctive outfit, which features a striking baseball bat and dyed hair combo, has since become a Halloween costume favourite.

But while showing a bit of skin is part of Harley Quinn's iconic look, Robbie has admitted it's not something she particularly loves - although not for the reason you might think.

Speaking to W Magazine, she said: "Honestly, for me, as Harley at least, the more skin showing the longer it takes in hair and makeup 'cause she's got, you know, white skin and a million tattoos.

"So if anything outside, god, the scenes where I don't even have the jacket on, that's an extra 20 minutes in the makeup trailer."

Birds of Prey is expected to hit cinemas in February 2020.
