Ted Bundy Victim Says It Makes Sense For Zac Efron To Play Serial Killer

We all know who Ted Bundy is by now - a hugely popular Netflix docu-series and an upcoming movie starring Zac Efron rank among the sort of things that tend to grab people's attention. Anyway, we all know now that he was a serial killer, a kidnapper and a rapist, among other things.

But he was also charming and charismatic - at the height of his infamy, many people even thought of him as handsome.

That's why, according to one of Bundy's survivors, it makes complete sense for Hollywood heartthrob Zac Efron to portray the murderer in the eagerly-anticipated movie Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile (bit of a tongue-twister, yep).

Speaking to TMZ, Kathy Kleiner Rubin, who was attacked by Bundy at Florida State University's Chi Omega house in 1978, said: "I don't have a problem with people looking at it, and as long as they understand that what they're watching wasn't a normal person.

"I believe that in order to show him exactly the way he was, it's not really glorifying him, but it's showing him, and when they do say positive and wonderful things about him... that's what they saw, that's what Bundy wanted you to see."

She added: "Hopefully it will make women more aware of their surroundings and be cautious. He had different tactics that he used for people to help him get in cars or do things, and in your gut you just feel that something doesn't feel right."

Bundy usually won the trust of his victims before exploiting them and it was clear from the clips on Netflix's Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes that women were swooning over him during his trial.

This year marks 30 years since Bundy's execution in January of 1989, but it seems some people are still swooning over his looks.

So much so that Netflix issued this announcement on Twitter:

Following the news that Efron would be playing the role, some people complained that the film would be 'glorifying' Bundy.

One person tweeted: "I'm sorry. You can't create a rock music infused trailer for a non-documentary starring a ripped ass Zac Efron kissing on females then turn around n say 'we're not glorifying' a serial killer. those are, like, all the glory elements right there."

Another posted: "The fact that Ted Bundy wanted to be seen as some sort of celebrity ladies man wtf ur literally romanticising a rapist pedophile murderer when u cast Zac Efron to play him or keep talking abt how 'hot' he was."
