​The Fourth Season Of 'Rick And Morty' Is Officially On The Way

Fans of Rick and Morty, do we have good news for you.

Remember back in May when they confirmed that they'd give us 70 more episodes of weird animation? Yep, those episodes are officially on their way.

The writers posted on Facebook yesterday to confirm that they're back to work - although, in typical Rick and Morty style, it won't happen quickly.

It looks like we won't be able to wrap our eyes around a new batch of episodes until late 2019.

They have shared a little behind-the-scenes video for now, to tide you over.

Adult Swim

The clip shows what went on behind the scenes while they were creating episode ten of the last series, and reveals an alternative ending too.

If you can't remember, it's the episode where Rick is fighting with the President.

The original plan was for the two characters to work together. "They do a shot, they hug it out, and then they get to work," says Dan Harmon.

This is, of course, followed by them kickboxing ISIS werewolves. Only Rick and Morty, eh?

Generally people on Facebookseemed to be against the alternative plot shown in the behind-the-scenes footage, so the writers clearly made the right call on that one.

It looks like a complicated process, writing such a satirical script - there's a group of writers sitting around looking at scribblings on a whiteboard and going back-and-forth over the details.

Adult Swim

There's always a long wait between seasons of the cult show. Season 1 aired in 2013, then season 2 followed relatively quickly 18 months later. After that though, it was a two year wait for the third season, and it looks like we're in for the same now.

Adult Swim took their sweet time confirming that they wanted more Rick and Morty episodes, which is why work has only just started on the new season.

People are commenting in their droves on the Facebook post.

One user said, "Adult swim really needs better management so we get new show, we got this and maybe robot chicken every other year. Then the lame live action shit that is for nobody sane."

Another posted, "Wooooooeeeeee only like 3 more years till season 4 . What did you do while waiting hopefully you didnt just like sit around and waste your life. Lol"

Now the wait begins.
