Good news, everybody, the first-draft script for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 is finished.

Taking to Twitter, writer James Gunn shared a snap of the front page with the caption 'every bit of my heart'. Exciting.

Head of Marvel Studio Kevin Feige confirmed to Collider that he had received the new script and also said that production will start pretty soon.

He told them: "James has delivered a draft and we begin official pre-production on that very, very soon. It'll be shooting early next year. Captain Marvel finishes in about two weeks, Spider-Man starts in about two weeks, and then Guardians 3 will start early next year."

Of course, after the news broke, fans were very excited:

Speaking previously, Gunn has said that the third instalment is intend to wrap up this particular team - calling it an 'epic conclusion' and adding: "Who knows who will take up the mantle after that?"

"I will be helping to plant the seeds that will lead to the next decade," he told the Toronto Sun. "I'm helping to decide what projects we'll be pursuing outside of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3... and what the next cosmic characters we will focus on."

As yet, there aren't too many plot details and after Avengers: Infinity Wars, many fans are wondering which characters will feature.

Although, Gunn has confirmed that Mantis and Kraglin will be back to fans on Twitter.

Gunn seems to have a lot of faith in his new script. During a Facebook Live Q&A, he said: "One of the things I'm doing with creating Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3, it will take place after the next two Avengers movies and it will help to set up the next 10, 20 years of Marvel movies.

"It's going to really expand the cosmic universe. We're going to be setting up new characters. It will be the last movie of this version of Guardians of the Galaxy."

The film is currently tipped for a 2020 release.
