The new trailer for season eight of Game of Thrones has just dropped and it could mean bad news for some of the series' biggest characters.

Titled 'Aftermath', the teaser scans across the barren landscape at Winterfell.

With no signs of life, all that remains are weapons strewn on the ground, including what appear to be the golden hand of Jaime Lannister and Jon Snow's sword. OH. SHIT.

But if you thought it ended there, think again, this is GOT and no one is safe. The trailer also appears to foreshadow danger for Tyrion Lannister, Arya Stark, and brother Bran, whose belongings are left abandoned in the snow.

PLEASE. NO. LET. IT. STOP.

By this point, it should come as no surprise to most in the world of Westeros 'everyone dies'. Yet that has done nothing to comfort fans who are now left wondering what lies in store for some of the show's most popular characters.

One concerned fan commented on Twitter: "This is just a delayed April fools joke right..... RIGHT???"

A second person said: "Don't you do this to me."

Does the new trailer spell the end for some of the show's most iconic characters?

A third then wrote: "Seems like the battle of Winterfell will be lost and it'll be overrun."

Another said: "PLS DON'T TELL ME IT'S NEEDLE."

"Please DON'T kill Jon again, one time is enough," wrote another extremely worried fan.

Prior to the teaser being released, Maisie Williams, who plays Arya Stark, almost gave the entire game away when she appeared to drop a huge spoiler during an interview.

The 21-year-old actress was promoting the show when she was asked to share a teeny, tiny spoiler and oh boy did she. This was a death-level spoiler.

At first she was having none of it, explaining to host Jimmy Fallon (would you believe): "I've decided to just keep a tight lip on everything. HBO have sent out a lot of memos recently about just saying nothing. So, there's really nothing I could say, they would absolutely kill me."

Fallon, 44, kept pushing: "You couldn't give one little spoiler, one little hint - a crumb is all I ask," before switching to a British accent adding: "M'lady, just a crumb is all I'm asking for."

Eventually she cracked, or at least we thought she did, when she revealed: "During shooting, like, the final days were really emotional saying goodbye to all of the cast because when I found out that Arya died in like the second episode I was..."

But before you go into a blind panic, don't worry, it was just an 'April fools'. A very mean and not-at-all funny one.

Well we could go on all day about what we reckon might happen but we'll leave the speculating to everyone in LADbible's Westeros Posting group on Facebook. You're welcome.

The eighth and final season of Game of Thrones will air on 15th April on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV
