Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson has confirmed the date that we can expect the new Jumanji film to drop, having posted a teaser video to Instagram:

When it was first announced that Jumanji was going to be given a reboot, people were generally against it. How could anyone possibly top the late, great Robin Williams, who starred as Alan in the original 1995 film?

But then when Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle was released last year, most people backed off and agreed that it was actually pretty good.

Rather than remaking the classic and stepping on William's amazing toes, it was an entirely new plot, based in a video game version of the iconic board game.

Starring Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart and Karen Gillan, it performed insanely well at the box office, becoming Sony's highest grossing film ever, and even won a few awards.

So it wasn't a big surprise when the Jumanji concept was confirmed for a third round earlier this month, and The Rock's just revealed when it will hit screens.

He posted a teaser trailer on his Instagram page last night. To a soundtrack of the film's iconic drum beats, it simply features the words 'The game is not over', followed by the Jumanji logo and the date of its release.

Although it's not clear whether the release date is just for the States or for the rest of the world, we should be getting it on the big screen on 13 December 2019.

Dwayne's caption read: "Officially planting our JUMANJI flag. On DECEMBER 13th, 2019 - the game is not over.

"I hold JUMANJI very close to my heart and I'm beyond grateful you made our movie into the global juggernaut ($1BILLION+) it became.

"Can't wait for you to see what our new adventure & new characters have in store as Christmas comes early.

"And once again, I get to slap @kevinhart4real's lip's into next week. The world is happy.

"#FearTheDrums #TheGameIsNotOver #JUMANJI DECEMBER 13th, 2019."

The new film will be released just before Star Wars: Episode IX, so it'll have a week to enjoy its inevitable box office domination before the massive franchise swoops in.

The Rock also confirmed earlier this month that the stars of the first remake will all return for round two.

To be honest, we're happy to give our money to anything with Dwayne Johnson's name on the bill. What an absolute top LAD.
