The trailer for Black Mirror season five has just dropped.

The teaser was released on the show's official Twitter account, with the caption: "You should've seen it coming."

From the first glimpse at the upcoming series, it seems the show's makers are again focusing on the relationship between humans and technology, with notions or love, security, sex, family and work, all under the microscope.

The fast-paced trailer flits between characters, from a dissatisfied husband who reaches out to a Tinder-esque dating app, to a robot doll and a lonely teen. We then get glimpse at a Network style breakdown from a man who seems to have just had it with mobile phones.

So, there's something for everyone.

And it's headed up by a stellar cast of Hollywood names, with pop star Miley Cyrus, Avengers' Anthony Mackie, Aquaman's Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Topher Grace all making an appearance in the trailer.

We also see Fleabag's Andrew Scott sitting in a car during a tense stand off with the police, before reaching out of the window with a gun in hand.

Avengers star Anthony Mackie will star in the next season of Black Mirror.

This comes after the first still from the fifth season was released earlier today, showing Anthony Mackie and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II in a tense face-off.

Speaking about the mysterious photo, the show's creator Charlie Brooker said: "It's the Marvel-DC crossover no one saw coming."

Beyond this, not much is known about the plot lines for season five.

However, Brooker has said in the past that it will offer fans a much more positive outlook on life - which wouldn't be that hard considering how utterly bleak previous seasons have been.

Need I remind you of the pig sex in episode one?

Speaking to the New York Times, he said: "We're doing more optimistic episodes and stories, rather than just dystopian and negative ones. We want to keep the show interesting for us."

Of course, this wouldn't be the first time they have flirted with the idea of offering viewers something verging on happy to cling onto.

Pop star Miley Cyrus appears to take on a warped version of herself in the upcoming series.

The fourth episode of series four, 'Hang the DJ' finished with an unfamiliar focus on love which left many feeling joyously refreshed. On the other hand, however, others had come accustomed to grim prophecies and came away feeling betrayed.

Fans have been waiting since December for the return of the hit drama.

The last outing for Brooker and his team was choose-your-own-adventure film, Bandersnatch, which allowed viewers to decided how the story unfolded.

Speaking at the time, TV critic and writer Brooker said: "It kept expanding, even when we were in pre-production. We deliberately pushed what was going to be possible. The story outline crashed."

One thing that is always for sure with Black Mirror, you can always expect the unexpected.
