The executive producer for the upcoming The Witcher television series has posted a number of tweets with information surrounding multiple characters appearing in the show.

It was announced back in May last year that Netflix would start producing an adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski's The Witcher book series into a TV series. Since then, Lauren Schmidt Hissrich was placed in charge and in January this year the scripts were completed for the pilot episode.

Hissrich then wrote the following on Twitter: "And now, all in one handy thread... #TheWitcher characters."

Over the next 12 tweets she wrote that we would be seeing a TV version of Geralt, Yennefer, Ciri, Jaskier, Triss Merigold, Emhyr, Milva, Cahir, Regis, Vilgefortz, Roach, Leo Bonhart. The Witcher game series has been around for ten years now and it follows the life of Geralt of Rivia, a Witcher who travels and slays monsters with the help of his enhanced powers and incredible fighting abilities.

Hissrich describes Geralt as "Stoic. Circumspect. Balanced. Fierce. Soft-and-squishy-in-a-tiny-place-in-his-heart-that-he'll-never-reveal-until-maybe-the-end-and-even-then-it-will-just-be-a-hint" and his lover Yennefer as "Fiery. Proud. Shrewd. Contradictory. Seeking-to-fill-a-family-sized-hole-in-her-heart-even-though-she-resents-it-and-swears-she's-just-fine-on-her-own-but-she-is-not-and-we-love-her-for-being-both-independent-and-vulnerable."

Apart from a few special editions and add-ons, the last game to be released was in 2015. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt won a ridiculous amount of accolades including multiple game of the year awards, a variety of artistic achievements, and best characters and storytelling.

The first series of the show will include eight episodes and will be solely based on the books, with more writers being planned to be drafted in, in order to help the production process and reach the predicted release date of 2020.
