There Might Not Be A New Rick And Morty Season Until 2019

A writer/producer for Rick And Morty said they haven't even started writing the fourth season yet and it might be 2019 until a new season.

Everybody loves Rick And Morty. And if you don't love it, there's really no helping you. If you've never seen it, then stop what you're doing right now and watch it. Whether you're at work, at home, in the middle of town, find a way of watching it (Netflix, probably).

Anyway, now that we've established how weird and wonderful it is, brace yourself for some sad news. Because according to an interview with radio station The Detroit Cast, we might be waiting a long, long time for the next season to emerge.

If we were Rick (or Morty, for that matter) that wouldn't be such a problem. We could just zip to another part of the multi-verse where they'd already made all the rest of the seasons and binge-watch for infinity.

Sadly, we're constrained by the laws of physics, space, time, matter and everything else, making that impossible. Which means it could be at least a year-and-a-half - which was the wait between seasons two and three - before we get any new episodes.

In the interview, Ryan Ridley, a writer and producer on the show, said that, as far as he knows, none of the show's writers have even started working on the new season yet - and that includes creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland.

"They really take their time," he said on the radio show. "I never understood why everybody-all parties, Dan, Justin, and Adult Swim-didn't get their shit together, and make the show fast. I just don't get it. It doesn't make any sense to me. I'm sure they all have their reasons."

The good news is that there likely will be a fourth season, given the high ratings and critical acclaim the show's first three seasons received. Like we said, everybody loves it. It's just going to take a while, because apparently it took eight months after the script was finished to produce the show's third season.

We're not mathematicians (or screenwriters, for that matter) but the likelihood of them writing 10 episodes in anything less than six or more months isn't very good.

"I know how long this show takes to write, let alone animate," Ridley said. "I'd be surprised if there was a fourth season on the air anytime sooner than 2019... late 2019."

They could probably invent a way of travelling to a different version of our reality by that time. Sheeesh.
