If the first trailer for the newest movie in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise wasn't enough to well and truly put the shits up you then fear not, because a second trailer has just been released, complete with a man wearing a dead cow's head as a mask. Nice.

The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre is undeniably one of the all-time greats when it comes to classic blood-drenched, gory horror, but unfortunately the franchise hasn't delivered too well in the sequels department.

Things took a turn for the worst following the departure of legendary horror director Tobe Hooper. After three official sequels, one reboot, one prequel to the reboot and one abomination that claims to be a direct sequel to the original while ignoring any continuity, the franchise has pretty much completely fallen to bits.

However, that all looks set to change with Leatherface, a heart-pumping bloodbath that looks set to bring the Texas Chainsaw Massacre movies back on track, due in no small part to some very talented directors.

Leatherface is directed by Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury - two of the most exciting people involved in the genre these days. They're probably best known for 2007's Inside, a nausea-inducing home-invasion movie about a pregnant woman who has to defend herself against an intruder.

The new film will act as a precursor to the first movie and will explain a little bit about how the deranged killer came to be.

According to the film's synopsis, the prequel concerns a teenage Leatherface, 'who escapes from a mental hospital with three other inmates, kidnaps a young nurse and takes her on a road trip from hell. Along the way, they are pursued by an equally deranged lawman out for revenge'.

The statement adds: "One of these teens is destined for tragedy and horrors that will destroy his mind."

Sounds like a goer to us, but don't take our word for it. Check out the new trailer and get yourself prepped for October 20 when Leatherface will be hitting screens.
