When it comes to dating, first impressions matter. We all know they shouldn't and we should be looking for something a bit deeper than 'do I fancy you?' - but that's just how it goes.
According to psychologists, we have just seven seconds to make a good impression, and you only get one shot. No pressure or anything.
With that in mind, let's head over to First Dates, shall we? Where Molly, a 19-year-old bricklayer, is looking for love.

Now, lovely Molly has two major no-nos when it comes to finding a partner, OK? No 'shit flickers' (shoes that point up at the front. I think the technical term is 'winklepicker') and no slippers. Quite a shoe-focussed list, but the heart wants what it wants and all that.
Molly is matched with Hussein, who has the highest hair I've ever seen and is full of confidence. Well, Molly said she liked confident men, so that's a good start.
He bounces straight in for a cuddle, before Molly stops him to shake his hand, which could be awkward, but Hussein manages to style it out and still gets a hug.

So far, so good for Hussein. Until Molly spots his shoes. Ah.

"Did you wear your grandad's slippers?" she asks.

Before adding: "Mum, can I borrow your jeans? Grandad, can I borrow your slippers?" Brutal.
Good-natured Hussein laughs it off (but is definitely crying on the inside), telling Molly 'they're not slippers, they're boat-shoes' and complimenting her on being so outgoing.

Trying to get the conversation away from his feet, Hussein asks Molly where she's from.

"I'm from somewhere where they don't wear boat shoes," she tells him.

Might be worth just throwing in the towel now, mate.
