Netflix's animated comedy Big Mouth has been renewed for seasons four, five and six, according to reports.

Variety writes that the new deal will form part of a multi-year deal with new animation company Brutus Pink.

Nick Kroll, Andrew Goldberg, Mark Levin and Jennifer Flackett are the team behind the series. In a joint statement, they said: "Netflix has given us the best creative experience imaginable, and we've been able to build an amazing community of talented writers, actors, producers and artists.

"We're thrilled to be continuing with everyone for years to come."

The show, which first aired in 2017, pretty much became an instant cult hit, racking up an impressive 8.1 on IMDB and still boasts an unbeatable 100 percent on Rotten Tomatoes; not to mention critical acclaim and even a couple of awards, with season three due to begin streaming imminently after being announced back in November.

"Big Mouth brilliantly captures the most awkward phase in a person's life, puberty, in a hilarious yet heartwarming way," said Mike Moon, head of adult animation for Netflix.

"We couldn't be more excited to continue our relationship with Brutus Pink and bring more stories, more humour, and more hormones to Netflix members around the world."

In the past, speaking about the show, the creative team have said they draw on their own teenage experiences to come up with ideas - with Nick and Andrew loosely based on Kroll and Goldberg.

Ahead of the release of the second season, Kroll told Variety that writing the show was therapeutic.

"My hope is that people can watch this as a little bit of catharsis of what they were like and how far they've come," he said.

While news of the fourth, fifth and sixth seasons is great, season three is set to be release on Netflix soon.

The show follows a group of middle schoolers who are trying to come to terms with their changing bodies, emotions and the general onset of puberty. It sees them attempt to circumnavigate various friendships, budding relationships, and social challenges - all with the help of their hormone monsters.
