The trailer for the sixth and final season of Power makes some pretty strong hints about the fate of one of its main characters.

In the recently-released trailer footage for the US crime drama, Tommy can be seen chatting to Ghost's son, Tariq.

"How would you feel if something really bad happens to him?" he asks, as an ominous reference to his Tariq's father.

It sounds as though Tariq may be turning against his old man, replying: "To be honest, I don't know."

Tommy and Ghost used to be like brothers to each other, but now are locked in an all-out war - and while Tommy doesn't explicitly say what he has planned for his rival, 'something really bad' doesn't exactly sound like great news for him.

The menacing words haven't gone unnoticed by fans, either.

"It looks like everyone is trying to kill Ghost in the new Power trailer," one person lamented on Twitter.

Another said: "I just watched Power trailer it make me so sad everybody turning on ghost... Like wtf."

Set to premiere on 25 August, the next instalment will also be the show's last, with season six having been dubbed 'The Final Betrayal'.

The US crime drama, which stars 50 Cent, will bow out after the 15-episode final season.

In a statement seen by TVLine, Carmi Zlotnik, President of Programming for Starz, confirmed that the sixth season would be the end of the road.

He said: "Season six brings us to the end of what we know is just the first chapter of the Power story. However, as one chapter comes to an end, another will begin.

"Courtney Kemp and 50 Cent have created a world rich with complex and dynamic characters, and there are a number of stories we plan to tell as we continue to explore and expand the Power universe."

Teasing the upcoming spin-off the show's co-creator Courtney Kemp also revealed it will 'follow some of your beloved Power characters beyond the scope of the initial series... but we will play with your expectations of which characters, where and the master timeline of it all, creating a Power universe as unpredictable as the original'.

As yet, it's not clear if season six will be made available on Netflix at the same time as Starz. However, new episodes of season five would land on Netflix on Mondays, following their Sunday night debut on American network Starz.
