Two Contestants Make £10,000 Each In The Chase Cash Builder Round

Two Contestants Make £10,000 Each In The Chase Cash Builder Round

As far as we know, it's never been done before

Two contestants on ITV's hit game show The Chase left Bradley Walsh, viewers, and even the Chaser amazed after an historic cash builder round that saw both take £10,000.

The two players - one after the other - correctly answered 10 questions, a feat that has never been achieved before.

The pair, Michael and Ross, went on to capitalise on their early success after a third contestant brought back £5,000. Then none of the three were caught during the final chase, meaning that the three split the total prize money of £25,000 between themselves.

Bradley Walsh said: "I don't remember that happening - ever! First two out of the traps, 10 each..."

Even the Chaser, Paul Sinha - who is supposed to be playing against them - seemed pretty impressed. To be fair, there isn't anything he can do about how successful the contestants are in the cash builder.

Sinha - known as the 'The Sinnerman' - added: "I can't speak for any of the other Chasers but that's definitely the first time two players have got two or more."

Needless to say, people watching were impressed as well. One Twitter user said: "First two players, £10 grand each. Wow."

Another added: "Fuck me 20 questions right in the first 2 cash builders. What a team Brad's building."

A third said: "The Sinnerman must have really pissed off the program makers to get landed with this team!"

Well, quite.

For those who aren't aware, The Chase is pretty much ITV's biggest game show. Contestants must build cash, then answer questions to avoid being caught by the Chaser, who answers the same questions.

If they survive, they build a group total of money before entering the Final Chase in which they must answer questions and hope that the Chaser doesn't answer more.

It's all pretty simple, really.

People love the show, too. It recently won the Best Quiz Show award at the National Television Awards, beating shows like Pointless, Catchphrase, A League of Their Own and 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown.

Incidentally, if you're sat reading this thinking, 'I could do that,' it's time to get off your arse and give it a go.

The Chase recently started taking applications for the 13th season of the show. All that you need is to be over 18, a legal resident of the UK and a current resident of either the UK, Channel Islands, or the Isle of Man.

Oh, and you - or your partner or relatives - can't have worked for any ITV-affiliated companies for at least a decade. So, actually, there's quite a few criteria to meet.

Anyway, if you've ever screamed at your telly because Carole from Lancaster doesn't know who won the 1995 FA Cup (where are my Paul Rideout fans at?) then perhaps this is the opportunity you've been waiting for.
