Tyrion Lannister has been voted the best character in Game of Thrones.

The mastermind who has problems with both his attitude and his drinking has come out on top in an online poll, beating some big names from the world of Westeros in the process.

In second place was King in the North, Auntie-shagger extraordinaire, and all-around sad sack Jon Snow. Seriously, have any of these people every actually seen the show?

Third up is Arya Stark - hard to disagree with that, she's a pretty cool character.

Tyrion has become a fan favourite since the very beginning for his hard drinking, quick witted approach to the cut-throat world that he has been forced into.

He killed his dad, he betrayed his family, yet everyone still loves him. To be fair, his dad was a dick, and his family are a load of incestuous morons. It's actually a good move to get shut of those guys, and the public applaud him for it.

As many of you are aware and are probably dreading, the next season of Game of Thrones will be the last one, and a lot of you will be wondering whether all of your favourite characters are going to make it through to the end of the series.

The answer, we can probably say without even having watched it yet, is no.

We already know that the big battle to end all battles in Westeros is on the way, according to Peter Dinklage - the man behind Tyrion Lannister - it will make 'The Battle of the Bastards' look like a theme park'.

Furthermore, GoT actor Sorozat Wiki has also recently told a Hungarian news site: "In the third part of the last season, there is a battle that the creators intend to be the biggest in television history. Almost the full episode will be about the battle, it will take about an hour."

'The Battle of the Bastards' was an amazingly choreographed bit of telly, but it was also brutal and destructive. We can only imagine what this is going to be like.

It's fair to say, then, that a load of folk are going to die. That's been the case from day one.

The good news is, although there are only a few episodes left, they're going to be longer than all of the rest. It was confirmed recently that the coming episodes are all going to be more than an hour long.

Recently, director David Nutter said: "Season 8 episodes will all I think be longer than 60 minutes. They'll be dancing around the bigger numbers, I know that for sure."

Well, with that amount of time to play with and battles that are supposed to be the biggest in telly history, here's hoping that Tyrion keeps his wits about him and gets to the end safely.
