The period between seasons of TV shows is never easy.

The anticipation that builds, especially when actors and directors are promoting the new episodes, is torture. It's a bit like when a you feel a sneeze coming, you prepare yourself, and then all of a sudden it disappears.

Big fans of Peaky Blinders will be getting that feeling now as star of the show Cillian Murphy has claimed the fourth season will be the best yet. Sometimes I wish they'd just say it's shit, so then the wait isn't so intense and when it comes out we're all pleasantly surprised.

"I think season four will be the best it has been. I'm very excited about it, we just wrapped last week and I think people will be in for a lot of surprises," he told ODE.

Few surprises sounds tasty, doesn't it? Sadly, that's about as much as we're going to be told about any upcoming surprises, so we'll just have to sit tight and re-watch the first three seasons.

What we do already know is that two new characters will be entering the frame, as Game of Thrones actor Aidan Gillen and Oscar winner Adrien Brody have joined the cast.

"Adrien plays the threat to the family and possibly the biggest they'll face. Aidan is a sort of, in the face of danger it's like pressing the nuclear button - you get him to help. Let me put it that way. We have been very fortunate to get two really legendary actors," creator of the show Stephen Knight told Metro. "We get a lot of actors who want to be part of [Peaky] which is great but we try not to make it a 'spot the star' sentiment, and just get actors who are really perfect for the role."

Luckily filming has finished for season four, and it's expected to air later this year.

A few months back Murphy was seen with the crew filming in various places in the north west, such as Manchester and Liverpool.

The Irish actor was photographed running round in full costume, wielding a pistol, as his notorious character Tommy Shelby.

Understandably, fans were shook over the action snaps and more excited than ever for the new series of the period drama.
