Whenever there's a contestant on The Chase with a serious job, does anyone else... well, let them off the hook if they have an almighty disaster? I do, but usually just out of hope that they're saving all of their being-good-at-something capabilities for one thing, specifically their career.

In any case, it would seem that I'm the only one - viewers were definitely not giving the benefit of the doubt to Dornu, a doctor, on last night's episode as she failed to get any questions correct in the cash builder round.

Give the poor woman a break will you, people? She might just have that much medical knowledge knocking around up there...

If you haven't watched the ITV teatime show before, first of all, get ITV Hub on - pronto. Alternatively, tonight's episode will be on ITV +1 shortly...

On the show, each of the four contestants have the opportunity to build up an amount of money, before going head to head with one of the show's resident brainboxes - the formidable 'Chasers' - to win that amount. It really is gripping telly.

In this episode, during the initial round, Dornu failed to correctly answer any of her general knowledge questions.

I mean, they did include questions about the Island of Eigg, The Cardinal of the Kremlin and the vascular system of trees and plants.

But you'd have hoped correctly identified the name of the control panel beneath a car's dashboard, wouldn't you?

Well, one thing's for sure, she isn't giving any of her winnings to her mum Winnie. Gutted.

Over on Twitter, people clearly found the unsuccessful round hilarious. One viewer wrote: "This might be the worst performance I have ever seen on #TheChase."

Another added: "Dornu came with nothing and when she left she still had all of it left."

And a third commented: "I hope the reason she had no general knowledge was because her brain was choc-a-bloc with medical knowledge." Our thoughts exactly. See? It's not just me after all.

Another fan posted: "Worst performance I've ever seen on #TheChase. ZERO!" Clearly this person didn't watch the woman who passed on all but one question.

And things didn't get any easier for Dornu when she called one of the long sausage-like swimming pool floats a 'pool nugget'. Perhaps the best bit of all was how confident she was about this answer.

Grinning, Dornu said: "Yeah, I used to use then when I was little."

But the correct answer was in fact 'pool noodles'.

And again, viewers got back on to Twitter - do you guys have nothing better to do, like concentrate on the programme?

One wrote: "The last time we saw 'pool nuggets' the water park in Tenerife had to be closed, for two days, and cleaned." Those pesky Canarian pools, eh?

It seems some were sympathetic though, thank heavens. Someone else said: "Dornu had one of those days where nothing went right, questions just didn't fall her way unlucky, on a side note, didn't know those round cylinder things were called pool noodles. Learn something new with this show."

Better luck next time, Dornu.
