This is seriously creepy.

Beware the Slenderman is a new documentary about the true story of two 12-year-olds who stabbed their friend 19 times in an attempt to 'please' the fictional Slenderman.

The bizarre case took place in 2014, when Morgan Geyser and Anissa Weier stabbed their mate, Payton Leutner.

When questioned by police, they confessed to the crime, saying they did it to appease the Slenderman. Geyser was later found to have early onset schizophrenia. Both girls have been charged with attempted first-degree intentional homicide and will be tried as adults.

The new HBO documentary, directed by Irene Taylor Brodsky, centres on how the girls became so obsessed with the fictional horror character. If you want to sleep, it will probably not be the best bedtime viewing.

The Slenderman is a fictional horror character, which came into existence after a Photoshop competition on the Something Awful Forum. The creature is unnaturally tall and thin - hence the name - wears a black suit and has a featureless face.

The meme has since popped up on Creepy Pasta, where dozens of users have written stories about it, and it stalks and abducts children. Sweet dreams...
