Woman Asks Wife To Name Avengers Characters And Gets Hilarious Response

Woman Asks Wife To Name Avengers Characters And Gets Hilarious Response

To be fair, there are a LOT of characters so no one's blaming her for not knowing everyone

If you haven't watched every single second of the Marvel Cinematic Universe then you could be excused for not knowing all the characters. Since its creation in 2008 there have been 19 films released, all with their own heroes, villains, sidekicks, love stories, back stories and locations.

So you can imagine the sheer bemusement when the line-up for Avengers: Infinity War was presented to someone a little less au fait with the MCU.

Gabrielle Regan-Waters asked her wife, who's only seen Captain America: The First Avenger and Thor: The Dark World, to see if she could name all the big players in the latest Avengers film.

And good lord, the responses were good.

She nailed the obvious ones - Hulk, Iron Man, Spider-Man and Captain America - but then kind of got her Marvel Cinematic Universe mixed up with her X-Men (understandable given that Marvel are responsible for both franchises, although the two movie universes look unlikely to cross over any time soon).

Gabrielle's wife got Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) mixed up with Rogue and Jean Grey from Professor X's team of mutants.

Hilariously, she thought that Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) found a girlfriend in Gamora from Guardians of the Galaxy and believed that the green-skinned adopted daughter of Thanos was actually just a female Hulk. Is a She-Hulk movie on the cards, actually? Maybe it should be.

It seems as though the GotG series threw her a bit because she was confused as to who the hell Drax and Rocket were (even going as far as wondering why the hell a raccoon was thrown in with the likes of Thor and Iron Man) but she got so close to nailing Groot, instead landing on 'Troot'.

The further down the line-up she went, the more 'out there' the guesses got, as she created a whole family with War Maiden at the helm for Black Panther.

She also just named the actors to get some points on the board. Poor Samuel L Jackson, Paul Rudd, Chris Hemsworth and 'Republican Chris' Pratt.

Even worse was Wong from Doctor Strange who just got listed as some bloke who got caught in the crossfire.

The responses from the tweet are equally as hilarious and even made Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn chuckle.

When the line-up was first revealed, many people were wondering why a certain character was left off the list: Captain Marvel. The powers that be (well, Marvel) have already teased us with the information that she's the most powerful superhero in the MCU and yet she was nowhere to be seen when Thanos was well and truly fucking shit up.

Infinity War directors Joe and Anthony Russo explained that they're saving her until the fourth and likely final Avengers film, which is slated for release on 3 May next year.

Talking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Anthony said: "We also wanted to, it was very important to us to commit... we wanted to commit to this ending very hard. We didn't want to go past the ending very much."

He was referring to the post-credits scene where right at the end we see Nick Fury send out a pager to Captain Marvel - so at least they snuck her in there somehow.
