After Netflix previously unveiled their end-of-year-data, it emerged that somebody had somehow managed to watch The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King 361 times this year - and now the woman in question has come forward.

Suria-Ann Johns, 24, lives in Prince George, British Columbia and indentified herself as the viewer in question to the online edition of VICE.

"I was pregnant, and the only place I was comfortable sleeping was on my couch... I can't fall asleep unless I have some sort of white noise going on," Johns told VICE. "I just think it is really well-written, and the characters are hilarious."

The reason she streamed the film's extended version, which runs to just over four hours and 23 minutes, was to help her to get to sleep whilst she was pregnant. The length of the movie meant that she did not have to click the 'continue watching' button as often as on shorter movies.

Speaking about her favourite scenes in the movie, she said: "I love the battle one. I think it's hilarious when Gimli and Legolas are fighting to see how many orcs and bad guys they can kill, and Legolas takes down four or five men on top of the oliphaunt! Then he takes down the oliphaunt, and Gimli just kind of glares at him.

"Éowyn, she stabs the [Witch King of Angmar] in the face and says, 'I am no man!'... I think that was a great scene."

Apparently she wasn't the only person clocking in ridiculous numbers of single movie run-throughs. Another user managed to pull off a feat even more impressive than that by viewing Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl 365 days in a row. The streaming service has also revealed that another user has chucked The Bee Movie on 357 times this year.

Netflix users watch 140 million hours of programming per day globally, according to the service - and it's not shy about trolling them over their viewing habits.

Its US Twitter account recently threw a bit of light-hearted shade at its 53 subscribers who'd watched festive schmaltz-fest A Christmas Prince every day for 18 days, rattling a few folks in the process.

But then again, one Reddit user also came forward to say Netflix had once sent him an email to check on his well-being when they noticed that his viewing habits had changed.

"After I finished The Office in something like 5-10 days, I don't quite remember, I received an email from Netflix asking if I was okay," posted King-Salamander.

"They had noticed that I had my account running non-stop for over a week and they wanted to check on me and make sure I was doing well since my viewing activities became so much more frequent than they used to be."

Maybe these stats are pretty useful after all, then.
