Hundreds Of Zombies Invade London As ‘Walking Dead’ Celebrates 100th Episode

Their make-up and outfits were incredibly realistic as they walked through parts of England's capital...

Some joke that the streets of London in the morning are filled with zombie-eyed people on their way to work. But these soulless looking individuals were upstaged by very realistic zombies hunting for fresh flesh on the South Bank.

Bumping into one of these red-stained people might give you a bit of a fright if you weren't paying attention. The hordes of people weren't just donning a bit of fake blood that you'd save for Halloween, they had scarily good make-up and prosthetics attached to their faces and bodies.

The stunt was to celebrate the 100th episode for the hit TV show The Walking Dead.

The seventh season naturally ended on a cliff hanger, with members of Alexandria, the Kingdom and Hilltop cut down after an unexpected double-cross. Rick, Maggie and Ezekiel stood on a podium and made a dramatic speech to promise that all-out war will happen with Negan and his group.

The 100th episode and season eight opener, Mercy, certainly delivered on that speech. Rick brought a huge posy to Negan's doorstep and began counting down from 10 to give his opponent one final chance to switch sides. But Rick started shooting when he reached seven, prompting another huge firefight.

Realising the errors of not just killing Negan then and there, Rick retreats with his gang while Negan cowers behind a car as bullets continue to fly around the site. But while there has been so much attention paid to Negan vs Rick, the show's boss, Greg Nicotero, says the walkers will be the big winners of that war.

He told Variety: "They're just waiting for these groups of idiots to kill each other off so they can finish taking over the rest of the world. The zombies are like, 'Oh, you're going to let us not do the work and you're going to do the work for us? Great. We'll just wait until you're done and we'll take over'."

The end of the Mercy was dedicated to stuntman John Bernecker, who died after falling 20 feet from a balcony onto a concrete floor.

While the episode caused a huge reaction on social media, fans are also gearing up for a crossover between The Walking Dead and the prequel series Fear The Walking Dead.

Executive producer for both shows, Robert Kirkman, announced at New York Comic Con: "I'll say this, There are two Walking Dead shows. One character is going to go from one show, that I will not name, and appear on another show that I will not name."
