Real Wolf of Wall Street's ex-wife gave Margot Robbie important advice about doing completely nude scene

Jordan Belfort's actual ex-wife gave Margot Robbie crucial advice on doing her infamous naked scene in the movie

The real Wolf of Wall Street's ex-wife has revealed that she met with Margot Robbie to give her honest advice on doing her infamous nude scene in the movie.

Dr. Nadine Macaluso, whose name was changed to Naomi Lapaglia in the film, married Jordan Belfort in 1991 when she was just 24 years old and he was 29, having two children in their 14 years of marriage.

Macaluso later accused Belfort of physically and mentally abusing her throughout the relationship, saying it was fuelled by his obsessive drug use and infidelity.

The Wolf of Wall Street was a huge success when it was released in 2013, following Jordan Belfort - played by Leonardo DiCaprio - as he built his Stratton Oakmont Empire and saw it fall due to financial crimes while living a lavish, drug-fuelled lifestyle.

Directed by Martin Scorsese, the picture generated over $400 million at the box office and was nominated for five Oscars.

Macaluso revealed to the Daily Mail that prior to the film's production, she met with Margot Robbie - who played her in the movie - to discuss how her own experiences would be portrayed.

"She was just lovely. She was sweet, and so young," Macaluso said. "She was only 22, which was the age I was [when I met Jordan]."

However, the Australian had concerns with one particular scene in the movie.

Nadine, who is now a qualified psychologist and author, explained: "I took her to dinner and she said me, 'Oh my God, I'm so afraid I gotta do a naked scene. I don't want to be naked but it's Martin Scorsese'.

"And I said, 'That right there, that fear of speaking your truth to more powerful men, that's how I felt every day [while I was married to Jordan]'."

She told Robbie to channel that feeling and fear, which is how she would fully understand what Macaluso felt at the time of her marriage.

Her words of wisdom seemed to work because as we all know, Robbie did ultimately perform the nude scene.

She also spoke out about it in 2014, revealing that she told Scorsese that she wasn't too thrilled at stripping down, but turned down the offer to wear a robe.

"I think nudity for the sake of nudity is shameful," Robbie said. "If they've put it in just so that a girl gets her top off, then that's disgusting. And you can always tell.

"But I also think it's disgusting when someone would have gotten naked in real life, and in the film they conveniently leave their bra on or hold up the bed sheet."

Robbie highlighted that Naomi's only form of currency was her body and she needed to 'lay her cards on the table' in the scene.

Prior to the movie though, Macaluso was 'nervous' as to how she was 'going to be portrayed' as she had no input except that her name be changed - despite Belfort trying to convince her not to.

Speaking to her ex-husband, she said: "I make no money. I have no creative input. This movie is not about my narrative. So just on principle. I'm not letting you use my name."

However, upon release, Macaluso said that 'it wasn't that bad', despite going through therapy in the lead-up to the release to prepare for the worst.
