A 'Major' Update Is Reportedly Coming To Pokémon Go

An attempt to bring people back?

Stay with us a minute, because we're not stuck in a time warp. I know that's what you might have been thinking.

Yes, Pokémon Go died a death a while ago, and you're all having codswallop about Donald Trump thrown in your face, but let's take a breath from all of that for now.

The open world app had a short-lived tenancy on all of our phones, but it's apparently making an update, presumably in a bid to bring some people back.

The current 42 people who still play the game are contemplating deleting it as the boredom of it is officially kicking in, but the addition of new pocket monsters could change that.

Dataminers at Silph Road have been doing some digging around the back end of the app, and have found that there are up to 100 generation two Pokémon in there. While that's not great news for most of us, who still stand by the first generation and claim the most recent versions are utter nonsense, at least it's something new.

BUT, news that you'll welcome with open arms is that among the new characters seemingly embedded into the game is the elusive Ditto. The shape-shifting, pink blob is hidden somewhere, and we want it.

"While it may seem Ditto is now in the game, the GAME_MASTER file does not currently include the recently added move 'transform' in Ditto's movesets," a post on Silph Road says. "Currently, the only move Ditto knows is: 'struggle'. It is possible that 'transform' may never officially become a Ditto 'move' so to speak, but will instead simply be an 'occurrence' that happens every time Ditto enters combat.

"Notably, however, the 'transform' animation sequence was not only added as an animation sequence, but as a 'move' in the movelist in the APK code."

Silph Road also reported that there's a new 'Quest System' in place, which is a 'Daily quest code, including daily bonuses and weekly bonuses according to a multiplier'.

Anyone tempted to reignite their hunting of Pokémon for Ditto? I'm fairly apprehensive, just because he might only be available deep in a Venezuelan jungle in a small river, like they did with Mew.
